Texas Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC)
The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a federal tax credit for businesses that hire people having trouble finding jobs. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulate the WOTC program together. WOTC’s goal is to help people get jobs, earn money and pay taxes.

Eligibility and Requirements
To qualify, an employer must: Pay certain State of Texas taxes. Have paid wages to a Texas resident during their first year of employment, and the resident had received at least one month of TANF or Medicaid benefits within six months of starting the job.
