Eligibility and Requirements
ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS
- Events -- Artists Groups: Informal collectives or small groups of professional writers or visual artists that have a mandate to provide mutual support, critique, discourse, professional or skills development; have at least five active members; and have been continuously active for at least one year.
- Events -- Organizations: Publishing, writing and visual arts organizations located in Canada that are registered non-profits; provide support services to Canadian publishers, writers or visual artists; or have a program mandate that is based on the interests of Canadian publishers, writers or visual artists. They have been in continuous operation for at least one year and have presented public programming featuring Canadian literary or visual artists.
- Research -- Creators: Professional writers and visual artists who have completed formal or informal training in their discipline, maintain an artistic practice, and publish or present their work. Applicants must also be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and have published at least one book or exhibition catalogue, or have five publications in periodicals or journals.
- Research -- Organizations and Publishers: Publishers or publishing, writing and visual arts organizations located in Canada that are registered non-profits, public institutions operated by a government body, or independent professional publishers at least 75% Canadian-owned and controlled. They have a program mandate based on the professional development and interests of Canadian writers or visual artists and have been in continuous operation for at least one year.
- Professional Development -- Creators: Professional writers and visual artists who have completed formal or informal training in their discipline, maintain an artistic practice, and publish or present their work. Applicants must also be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and have published at least one book or exhibition catalogue, or have five publications in periodicals or journals.
- Professional Development -- Arts Professionals and Publishers: Employees or freelance professionals (such as editors, designers and publicists) contracted by publishers or by publishing, writing and visual arts organizations located in Canada that are registered non-profits, public institutions operated by a government body, or independent professional publishers at least 75% Canadian-owned and controlled. They have a program mandate based on the professional development and interests of Canadian writers or visual artists and have been in continuous operation for at least one year.
