Food Safety for Processors Program - Food Safety Training
Food Safety for Processors aims to enhance food safety in Saskatchewan production facilities. This program supports food processors to achieve food safety regulatory requirements that will increase their competitiveness, productivity, and profitability. Ministry of Agriculture funding assists the Saskatchewan Food Industry Development Centre to provide food safety gap analyses and food safety system development. Please contact the Food Centre for information on how to obtain support to conduct a gap analysis and develop a food safety system. +Up to 50% of eligible total costs to a maximum of $10,000 per processor

Eligibility and Requirements
Eligible applicants must meet all criteria:
- Food processing company that is regulated by a government agency or seeking a third-party certification for food safety
- Commercial enterprises located in Saskatchewan +File taxes in Saskatchewan
- Operational for a minimum of two years to apply for Food Processor Upgrade
- Completed a Food Safety Gap Analysis that was conducted by the Food Centre or a qualified independent third party
Project Eligibility
- Food Safety Gap Analysis must be submitted with the pre-approval application
- Only those plant-specific training or key critical steps relating to food safety as outlined in the Food Safety Gap Analysis will be considered
- Complete PARTS 1 and 2 and 4 for Food Safety Training application
Ineligible expenses include:
- GST and PST +Labour/salaries of operator or employees Applicant/employee labor and installation costs
- Corporate administration costs
- Basic repair and maintenance
- Office equipment, such as Furniture, Filing cabinets, Staplers, Paper, and Phones
- Computers and related hardware/ software
- Purchase of land or buildings
- Interest payments and financing costs
- Legal, financing, or interest fees
- Production disturbances
- Brokerage fees
- Business planning or marketing
- Items considered as regular repair or maintenance +Audit costs
