When the roof, foundation and exterior walls of your home are well insulated, they help your home resist better to cold in the winter and excessive heat in the summer. They also make it easier to maintain a more comfortable indoor temperature and control heating costs.

Eligibility and Requirements
Improving the insulating value of a roof
- Insulation work must target at least 20% of the total surface area of the roof to be entitled to financial assistance.
- If the roof is composed of more than one type of roof (for example, attic, cathedral ceiling, flat roof), the amount will be calculated on a pro rata basis, i.e. on the basis of each roof type and its respective surface area.

Improving the insulating value of exterior walls
- If you are planning to change the exterior siding of your walls, it would be a good idea to improve their insulation as well.
- At least 20% of the total surface area of the exterior walls (common walls not included) must be insulated to be entitled to financial assistance.
- A different calculation method is used for semi-detached and row homes.
Improving the insulating value of a foundation
- Insulation work must target at least 20% of the total surface area of the foundation walls (common walls not included) to be entitled to financial assistance.
- When there is a basement and a crawl space, financial assistance is calculated on a pro rata basis, i.e. on the basis of their respective surface area.
- A different calculation method is used for semi-detached and row homes.
