Eligibility and Requirements
Replacement of an oil or propane central heating system with a system powered by an eligible renewable energy, such as electricity
Work involving a complete dismantling of the fossil fuel central heating system (furnace or boiler) and the removal of the tank (oil or propane) may be eligible for financial assistance from the Chauffez vert program. The system may be a hot air or a hot water circulation system.
Systems powered by natural gas are not eligible.
Conditions
- The work must involve installing new equipment for a heating system powered by electricity or a combination of renewable energies.
- The new equipment must meet the energy needs that were covered by the dismantled system(s).
- The system must be a source of heat for the home before the replacement work begins.
- In the case of a building with multiple units, the system must be a source of heat for at least one unit.
- Important - The dismantling and installation work must be carried out by one or more qualified contractors who hold appropriate RBQ licences.
Replacement of an oil or propane water heater by a water heater powered by an eligible renewable energy, such as electricity
To obtain financial assistance, participants are required to replace the water heater at the same time as they replace their oil or propane central heating system in view of a complete conversion of their systems to electrical or another renewable energy. Water heaters powered by natural gas are not eligible.
Conditions
- To be eligible for financial assistance, the work must involve completely dismantling a water heater that uses the same fuel as the central heating system.
- The work must also include installing new water heating equipment powered by electricity or a combination of renewable energies.
- The new equipment must meet the energy needs that were covered by the dismantled system(s).
- The domestic hot water used in the home must be provided entirely by a fossil fuel water heater.
- In the case of a building with multiple units, the system must provide all hot water to at least one unit.
- Important - The dismantling and installation work must be carried out by one or more qualified contractors who hold appropriate RBQ licences.
