Support for Entrepreneurs and Economic Development (SEED) — Sector Support
If you’re trying to improve your business by investing in new, or expanded, facilities and equipment, or if you represent a NWT business association, Band or municipality looking to expand your understanding or presence in a sector, this funding program can invest in the expansion or research you need to get there. These investments are available in two possible categories: Capital Expansion Incentives and Sector Research Support. -Up to $15,000 a year, for a maximum of two years, may be available to NWT business under this category to offset loan interest associated with new capital purchases for the expansion of your business -Up to $25,000 may be available to assist in supporting sector-specific research or planning that benefits businesses in a sector by providing information critical to the development of a sector or assisting in investment attraction -Up to $25,000 to assist in investing in sector-specific product development and related packaging materials and/or Sector-specific marketing campaigns

Eligibility and Requirements
Company Requirements
- Indigenous organizations, business associations, municipalities, and businesses in NWT communities involved in the following sectors as designated by the Minister:
- Agriculture
- Energy
- Film
- Fishing
- Knowledge Economy
- Tourism
- Value –added manufacturing Equity requirements for each category:
- Group 1 communities (Yellowknife, Hay River, Fort Smith, and Inuvik) – 30%
- Group 2 communities (all other communities within NWT) – 20%)
Eligible Activities
- Offset loan interest associated with new capital purchases for the expansion of your business
- Sector-specific research or planning that benefits businesses in a sector by providing information critical to the development of a sector or assisting in investment attraction
- Investing in sector-specific product development and related packaging materials and/or Sector-specific marketing campaigns
