Individual Artists Program

The Music Industry Professionals program provides funding to assist Indigenous people with mentorships. The Music Industry Professionals program builds the capacity of B.C.’s Indigenous music industry through transferring knowledge, developing skills and creating new opportunities. Funding assists with mentorships for recording engineers, administrators, agents, promoters, managers, event organizers and presenters. The program provides up to $30,000 to assist active Indigenous recording engineers. It supports mentorships to advance knowledge, skills, networking and business opportunities in the B.C. music industry through recording projects and through upgrading studio equipment. The program provides up to $15,000 to assist with mentorships or internships for emerging Indigenous professionals who show a commitment to working in the music industry as an administrator, agent, promoter, manager, event organizer or presenter. This program supports applicants with Indigenous ancestry, which includes First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. Registered Indian Status is not required. Eligible applicants have lived in B.C. for at least a year. This program is part of the FPCC Indigenous Music Initiative funded through Amplify BC, a fund created by the Province of B.C. and administered by Creative BC to support the recovery and growth of B.C.’s music industry.

FPCC is a First Nations-led organization with unique expertise in B.C. First Nations languages, arts and heritage. There is an urgent need to support the revitalization of First Nations arts practices in B.C. With the growing number of requests for funding, the FPCC Arts Program is focused on providing support for the artforms that come from this land.

Our work is founded in the fundamental belief that First Nations are the rightful stewards of their cultural knowledge and arts practices, and are best equipped to lead this important work of protecting, sharing and revitalizing B.C. First Nations Arts practices on these lands.

We want all Indigenous artists to be successful, no matter where they are from. Here is a link to information on other arts funding sources and organizations: fpcc.ca/artsfunders
